The Winter seemed pretty long to me but now Spring is here. I can't say that we won't get any more snow, but the paths I run on were clear this morning.
My training was not strong in January and February. Mid-January I had LASIK eye surgery. During the initial recovery, I took some time off working out and then I avoided running outside on the cold days. My motivation to run was gone, my weight increased, and my running fitness disappeared.
Around the end of February, I got my motivation back and I am running as many miles as I think I can handle per week, but at a pace slower than I would like. I figured it was best to increase miles for a month before increasing speed significantly.
Having events scheduled and goals usually help me stick to my training. My near-term goal is to race the Minnetonka Half Marathon on May 1st. I have 40 days to get to 1:40 half-marathon shape. 1:40 - that's my goal.
My next goal after that is to finish, in fair shape, the Bighorn Trail Run 50K in mid-June. I'm running 50+ mile weeks right now which is a good start. I have 3 months to go.

Waiting for the retraction... looks like winter again!
You got me. I suppose I should wait until May 12th (last frost date) before I even mention the word Spring.
I am really tired of this weather. I thought I had worn all of the heavy running clothes for the last time 2 weeks ago, but no. I hope that we are running Minnetonka HM in shorts. At this rate there will still be snow on the trails!
